In this first issue we announce two new programs and planned new features of WatchDirectory and WatchFTP.

New Program: WxRemote

Do you manage multiple installs of WatchDirectory and/or WatchFTP? Use the WxRemote Control Center to:

• Monitor and start/stop remote WD and WF tasks without actually visiting the computers
• Run remote scripts (batch files) and see result immediately
• Soon: a web interface so you can do the same from a web-browser or your mobile phone
• All this with a familiar user friendly interface

New Program: File Viking

File Viking is a new innovative way to process your files from your desktop. Drag and drop files from your File Manager to pre-configured File Viking baskets.

• Standard action include Move, Copy, Email, Zip/Unzip, Upload and Delete the files.
• A Special action to run other programs and batch files on files.
• Two Image manipulation actions are thumbnailing and converting to other formats.
• Combine multiple actions! Compress files to ZIP, Email the Zip and then delete the ZIP

Coming Up: Next WatchFTP Release

A small update somewhere next month is planned for WatchFTP. New features available in this release:

• The Filter Directories panel allows more entries.
• When WatchFTP had problems downloading a file, it would "blacklist" the file for 1 hour. This duration is now configurable.
• French translation in addition to the English, German and Spanish versions.

This new release will be a free upgrade for current customers.

Coming Up: Next WatchDirectory Release

Work has started on the 4.7 release of WatchDirectory, planned for release early December. New in this release:

• Remove some virtual machine restrictions from the Evaluation version
• Directly enter a Userid/Password for your Windows Service tasks
• The WD Control Center has had "major surgery" so it will not give you an UAC prompt at startup
• The Polling and File Age monitoring methods will not wakeup your computer anymore
• Some newer Intel based RAID controllers caused (very) slow startups for your tasks
• WatchDirectory will not write to the Windows Eventlog anymore
• French language helpfiles included
• Lots of other small fixes and improvements.

Version 4.7 will be a free upgrade for current customers.

More Languages

All our new programs are available in English, German, French and Spanish. Future (major) releases of WatchDirectory and WatchFTP will also be available in all those languages. We already have technical support available in all those languages.
